HXE (2-(ethylamino)-2-(3-hydroxyphenyl)cyclohexanone) is a synthetic dissociative research chemical that is structurally related to the anesthetic ketamine. It is also sometimes referred to as 3-HO-PCE.
Like other dissociative drugs, HXE produces altered states of consciousness, dissociation, and sensory distortion. It blocks the NMDA receptor, which plays a role in regulating glutamate transmission in the brain.
